Special Message from General (Retd) G.D. Bakshi
A deeply inspiring and impassioned message was delivered to the
residents of Palam Vihar on this milestone occasion by General (Retd) G.D.
Bakshi.
"It is a very proud day for all of us as we look back on our
achievements and look forward with hope to what our children and grandchildren
will accomplish. My heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to the Palam Vihar
Residents Association and all its residents."
General Bakshi also extended personal greetings to PVRA Vice President Brig.
Sukhbir Singh (Retd), fondly acknowledging their shared military uniform
and school heritage, concluding his message with prayers and blessings for
everyone present.
For me, as a chronicler of events, it was a great honour to be called upon to capture the spirit of the moment. I was spellbound by the enthusiasm of the people gathered, who celebrated a momentous occasion. I can only state that the spirit of Independence pervaded all those who were present. I would like to share the spirit of the moment by quoting Tagore's poem:
Where the Mind is Without Fear
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
