Uncertain Times - A poem

The quiet before the storm approaches,
Where deserted roads greet the eyes.
Long stretches lead into the distance,
With bated breath, we wait in suspense.

We don’t know what tomorrow brings,
But prepared we must be for the wings
Of change beat in the distance, storms
Approach, we fight or flee these things!

Perhaps a heavy rain will drown the fog
And the uncertainty drives away the bug
And fill the roads with people who hug
Each other  (Rather have a hug, not a bug!).

A light wind blows, refreshing and cool.
It drives away the dark clouds and the
Suspense, the promise of a sweet sleep,
Where we dream of paradise and peace.

A patch opens in the dark sky,
 Stars peep through twinkling.
A host in white descends on the
Roads, building a chorus so loud!

It drives away the beast lurking on
The edge of the road, making a stand.
A whispering is heard of hope and joy
Even as a bright beam stabs the gloom.

The beast lurking on the edge of the road
Trembles with fright, and with a whimper
Bounds away into the distance, the quiet
Is now replaced with a loud chorus of joy.
